Leopoldo André Canal Almeida
Founding Partner of the firm, practicing in Public Law with an emphasis on Tax Law and International Tax Law. He served as an advisor to the Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro and as a legislative advisor at the City Council of Rio de Janeiro. He also acted as legal consultant to the Union of Transport and Logistics Companies of Rio de Janeiro (SINDICARGA), and served as Alternate State Deputy of Rio de Janeiro (2018/2022) and Alternate City Councilor of the City of Rio de Janeiro (2026/2030). He has been a law professor at several institutions, notably the Civil Police Academy of Rio de Janeiro (CADEPOL), the Higher Officers Training School of PMERJ Dom João VI, the Training and Improvement Center for Military Police Officers of PMERJ (CFAP), as well as in the postgraduate program in Public Law at Estácio de Sá University, among others.
Education
He undertook doctoral and master’s studies in Legal Sciences at the Autonomous University of Lisbon (Portugal), as well as a Professional Master’s in Managerial and Tax Accounting from FUCAPE Business School (Brazil), and also partially attended the Doctoral Program in Constitutional Law at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) as a Visiting Scholar. He holds a specialization in U.S. Federal Taxation and International Transactions from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (United States), as well as international taxation programs at Leiden University (Netherlands) and studies in Introduction to American Corporate Law at the University of Pennsylvania (United States). He also holds postgraduate degrees in State Law from UERJ (Brazil) and in Civil Procedural Law from UCAM (Brazil), with extension studies in Tax Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas – FGV (Brazil).
